There is nothing worse then not knowing what to do in a fight. This guy is not backing down, you are going to have to fight him, so nervously shaking, palms sweating, you throw your right hand as hard as you can trying to knock him out. Only to realize you have missed and he has tackled you to the ground. Sitting on top of you he continues to punch you in the face, as you frantically try to push him off of you moving around as much as possible trying to get back up, you are stuck. Now realizing your only option is to yell “o.k. stop, stop, stop” hoping he will stop punching you or someone is kind enough to break it up.
Having your well being and even your life at the mercy of someone else is never a good spot to be in.
Women… Very Important, Must Read… This is Especially for you. Many times the women being attacked is smaller then her attacker. In this case you are alone walking to your car and He (your attacker) starts to come towards you aggressively reaching out to grab you. You throw your punches as he blocks and keeps charging towards you. You kick to the groin, only with all of your adrenaline pumping you miss and hit his leg. At this point he has grabbed a hold of you and forced you to the ground. This close combat ground fighting is Gracie Jiu Jitsu.

Gracie Jiu Jitsu
Gracie Jiu Jitsu (GJJ) also known as Brazilian Jiu Jitsu(BJJ) has been proven as the most effective martial art in the world. Aside from being popularized in America in 1990’s by the Legendary Gracie Family in the beginning of UFC. The Gracie family has been fighting opponents from around the world proving the effectiveness of their arts for decades.
Professor Adam Figurski head instructor at Gracie Hemet Jiu Jitsu Academy is a student of Ricardo Guimaraes a Gracie Jiu Jitsu black belt. Adam was first introduced to jiu jitsu by Professor Ricardo and received his black belt from him in February 2010. Both professors still compete and place in major tournaments including Pan Ams and American nationals. Both Professors still learn their Gracie Jiu Jitsu from the Gracie Humaita Team and train with the Legendary Royler Gracie. Bringing the same techniques to you.
Our Muay Thai Programs…for those of you looking to get and all around martial arts knowledge and experience. Our Muay Thai Program would be an excellent program for you. Different from the grappling of BJJ, Muay Thai is a stand up striking (kicking and punching) art. Similar to kick boxing. Again you will be starting in a Fundamental class learning the basic strikes and counters, before being enrolled into the Advanced Program, were you will begin sparring.
As with Gracie Jiu Jitsu, our qualified Muay Thai instructors have brought students from not knowing anything to successfully competing in professional MMA fights. If fighting professionally isn’t for you, thats o.k. Muay Thai is an excellent way to get in shape and learn some striking.
Our MMA Programs…with our specialized curriculum’s we have students who started their martial arts journey in our Fundamental Program moved to our Advanced Program and finally into our Black Belt Program who are now competing and winning in BJJ competitions and professional MMA fights.
Unless you have previous experience you will not be allowed to join the MMA training sessions. After completing our Fundamental and Advanced Programs you may begin your MMA training. The MMA training is a great program if you are looking to fight professionally, get a great workout, sharpen your MMA skills and/or help our other fighters prepare for their fights. Our fight training is very intense incorporating all the necessities of a cage fight. Including, but not limited to wrestling and Muay Thai.
Before training in our MMA program you must have enough experience to train hard, train smart, and train safe. To know how to do this you must have hours and hours of practice and be comfortable with sparring in both BJJ and Muay Thai.

Gracie Jiu Jitsu has changed my life. When I first started I weighed 300 pounds and had no energy. Having been a wrestler and football player through out high school I was always active in sports. As I continued to gain weight my self esteem diminished. I wanted to get back into shape but didn’t have the motivation. I would get a gym membership and start going but after a month or two I would get burned out and quit going. I gradually kept losing small amounts of weight only to gain back what I lost and then some.
I started coming to Gracie Jiu Jitsu in may of 2010 and can’t see my self ever quitting. I have lost 70 pounds and have more energy then I did in high school. It has been a great way to lose weight and as a wrestler was a great transition for me.
I expected to lose weight and get in shape, but what was a great surprise to me was the camaraderie that I have experienced. There is a great social experience that happens on the mats. You’re not only excersising and learning a sport you are also building friendships. I will continue to do jiu jitsu for the rest of my life and I hope that it is at Gracie Jiu Jitsu Hemet.
