“How to Most Effectively Defend Yourself, Lose Weight, or Fight Competitively”

There is nothing worse then not knowing what to do in a fight. This guy is not backing down, you are going to have to fight him, so nervously shaking, palms sweating, you throw  your right hand as hard as you can trying to knock him out. Only to realize you have missed and he has tackled you to the ground. Sitting on top of you he continues to punch you in the face, as you frantically try to push him off of you moving around as much as possible trying to get back up, you are stuck. Now realizing your only option is to yell “o.k. stop, stop, stop” hoping he will stop punching you or someone is kind enough to break it up.

Having your well being and even your life at the mercy of someone else is never a good spot to be in.

Women… Very Important, Must Read… This is Especially for you. Many times the women being attacked is smaller then her attacker. In this case you are alone walking to your car and He (your attacker) starts to come towards you aggressively reaching out to grab you. You throw your punches as he blocks and keeps charging towards you. You kick to the groin, only with all of your adrenaline pumping you miss and hit his leg. At this point he has grabbed a hold of you and forced you to the ground. This close combat ground fighting is Gracie Jiu Jitsu.

If you don’t know what to do in this situation you are at the mercy of your attacker.

You can prevent this from happening to you, with our specialized programs designed for the beginner who has never done a day of martial arts in their life, to the experienced veteran looking for good training partners to stay sharp on their skills or to prepare for a fight or competition.

But I’m too out of shape to be doing any of that martial arts stuff! I’ll get in shape first and then start martial arts. Nothing could be further from the truth. With our specialized fundamental program you will get in shape as you learn how to defend yourself moving along at a pace that is good for you, never pressured into doing more than you are able to do. Our highly trained staff will motivate you to push yourself, but never will you be pressured by any of the instructors to do more than you can handle.

If the day should arrive that you feel you would like to challenge yourself and move to a more advanced program, then we will be happy to take you there.

Gracie Jiu Jitsu

Gracie Jiu Jitsu (GJJ) also known as Brazilian Jiu Jitsu(BJJ) has been proven as the most effective martial art in the world. Aside from being popularized in America in 1990’s by the Legendary Gracie Family in the beginning of UFC. Were Royce Gracie beat multiple opponent is one night to prove that Gracie Jiu Jitsu is the most effective martial art. The Gracie family has been fighting opponents from around the world proving the effectiveness of their arts for decades.

Professor Adam Figurski head instructor at Gracie Hemet Jiu Jitsu Academy is a student of Ricardo Guimaraes a Gracie Jiu Jitsu black belt. Adam was first introduced to jiu jitsu by Professor Ricardo and received his black belt from him in February 2010. Both professors still compete and place in major tournaments including Pan Ams and American nationals. Both Professors still learn their Gracie Jiu Jitsu from the Gracie Humaita Team and train with the Legendary Royler Gracie. Bringing the same techniques to you.

Muay Thai

Our Muay Thai Programs…for those of you looking to get and all around martial arts knowledge and experience. Our Muay Thai Program would be an excellent program for you. Different from the grappling of BJJ, Muay Thai is a stand up striking (kicking and punching) art. Similar to kick boxing. “I have lost 70 pounds and have more energy then I did in high school.”

Gracie Jiu Jitsu has changed my life. When I first started I weighed 300 pounds and had no energy. Having been a wrestler and football player through out high school I was always active in sports.       As I continued to gain weight my self esteem diminished. I wanted to get back into shape but didn’t have the motivation. I would get a gym membership and start going but after a month or two I would get burned out and quit going. I gradually kept losing small amounts of weight only to gain back what I lost and then some.
I started coming to Gracie Jiu Jitsu in may of 2010 and can’t see my self ever quitting. I have lost 70 pounds and have more energy then I did in high school. It has been a great way to lose weight and as a wrestler was a great transition for me.
I expected to lose weight and get in shape, but what was a great surprise to me was the camaraderie that I have experienced. There is a great social experience that happens on the mats. You’re not only excersising and learning a sport you are also building friendships. I will continue to do jiu jitsu for the rest of my life and I hope that it is at Gracie Jiu Jitsu Hemet.

“Most Important, However, Has Been the School’s Culture of Good Sportsmanship and Friendly Attitude Imparted and Maintained In These Students.”
I have practiced or taught, in one form or another, several martial arts over a period of nearly 20 years. My experience makes me pretty particular about which schools I encourage my family and friends to attend, and Gracie Hemet is one I fully endorse. We’ve been practicing at Gracie Hemet since it opened. We met Adam Figurski and immediately liked him. Adam has a personality that mixes confidence with humility, and an open friendly disposition that makes everyone feel comfortable. He challenges without dominating, and he deals patiently with all types of learning styles.Under Adam’s tutelage, I’ve watched a number of students blossom from awkward fledgling beginners into skilled and confident BJJ practitioners. Most important, however, has been the school’s culture of good sportsmanship and friendly attitude imparted and maintained in these students. This type of attitude cannot be dictated. It is one that is learned from the example, and the example starts at the “top”…in this case, Adam.My wife Jennifer, never having practiced martial arts of any sort, has really found a passion to improve her skills here. She finds the environment challenging but safe, and is now preparing for her first major tournament. Ian, a 19 year old family friend without ANY experience at sports whatsoever, began here less than six months of training ago. He had no confidence in himself or his abilities. Since training at Gracie Hemet, I have seen–and his mother wholeheartedly agrees–an amazing trans formative effect on Ian’s level of confidence and physical skill. For Ian, Gracie Hemet has proved to be a fantastic life changer. My thanks to Adam, his cadre of assistants, and to the fellow classmates for a great experience!

I can’t say enough about Hemet Gracie Jiu-Jitsu. Not only is Adam a terrific instructor but he genuinely cares about his students. Everyone, from the instructors to fellow students, is dedicated to not only bettering themselves but those around them as well. When you join Hemet Gracie you’re not just joining a gym, you’re joining a family.

Make sure you know how to defend yourself. Standing and on the ground. 95% of fights end up on the ground. If you don’t know how to defend yourself standing and on the ground then you don’t know how to defend yourself, thats the bottom line.

The most importent area of self defense for a women is the close range/ground fighting area. It is a simple fact women are not strong enough to knock out a man with their kicks and punches. Women need to know how to defend themselves using technique and leverage instead of strength.
